Malaria is responsible for the deaths of half a million children a year. With drug resistance for the disease already prevalent in Asia, there are growing concerns of a real global health crisis if it reaches Africa.
Dr Leann Tilley from the University of Melbourne discusses how science advances, specifically within Biophysics can help understand and predict the behaviour of malaria parasite within the human body. With this information, she hopes it will assist the development of new drugs to overcome the current resistance.
