USC began its intervention in Timor Leste in 1995 by providing emergency funds to rural communities for food and shelter, and again in the aftermath of the tragic violence in 1999. From 2001 to 2003, the program shifted to sustainable agriculture with a strong focus on sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity-based agriculture. USC is currently working in 3 of the country's 13 districts to reinstate and re-establish resilient and food secure communities through the promotion of activities that are adapted to the agro-ecosystem and farmers' needs. Global Health TV visited Timor Leste to see how farmers, through the help of USC, are developing sustainable agricultural and building food security.
